Help End Child Hunger in Mozambique

According to UNICEF statistics, 42% of Mozambican children under age five are chronically malnourished.

Sadly, our WayFindersAfrica team knows this fact all too well.

Too many of the children we see in the Maratane Refugee Camp, and in the nearby indigenous Makua villages, suffer from malnutrition and related illnesses.

Children like Victoria, a 15-year old Makua girl who came into the refugee camp after she and her mother were evicted from a nearby Muslim community for converting to Christianity.

Sadly, soon afterwards, her mother died. Victoria now cares for her malnourished siblings and her own year-old infant.

"Why Don't We Feed Them?"

In 2020 we launched our Food4Kids program, in partnership with local churches in the area, to feed children like Victoria who suffered from hunger and severe malnutrition.

We're thankful for the support we've received so far, which has enabled us to feed 200 children one hot meal of beans and rice each week.

For many, it's the only meal they know they can depend on each week.

That's why, in 2025, we feel God is calling us to expand Food4Kids to serve 300 children - not just one time a week, but three times a week - so they won't just survive, but will have the opportunity to thrive, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Will You Help Us End Child Hunger in Mozambique?

We have an ambitious goal of raising $25,000 to feed 300 hungry kids in 2025. In our own strength, the number seems huge.

But as we've prayed about it, the Lord keeps reminding us that we can do it together with his help.

  • If 25 of our friends each gave $1,000, the entire need would be met!

  • Or 50 friends giving $500!

  • Or 70 friends giving $30 a month ($360 for the year)!

Would you join us in praying that God will provide the funds we need so we can feed these kids and plant seeds for long-term food security for them and their families?

And would you consider partnering with us by investing in this important mission?

Victoria's story, sadly, is not unique. The appalling effects of malnutrition can be seen every day in children of all ages living in the communities where we work.

With you help, we can change that. And offer short-term help that brings life-changing long-term health benefits.
